ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

Hints for New Registered Users

Firstly, please note that you can see EVERYTHING about anyone who is no longer with us WITHOUT having to log-in. If you do log-in you will get additional privileges, but only for the part (or parts) of the website where you have blood relatives see the panel on the right). Essentially these privileges will allow you to:

  • 'see' the entries for people who are (or might be) alive today. In most cases this is just the bare details.
  • suggest corrections or additional information on-line (click on the small 'Edit' buttons).
  • upload photos but, to be honest, it would be easiest all around if you just emailed them to me!
  • Keep track of your own research using the 'Tasks' feature (on the drop-down menu below the book-shaped icon).
  • Identify (and help search for) missing information using the 'Research Assistant' feature (click on the book-shaped icon).
  • extract information to work-with off-line, or incorporate into your own off-line records, using the 'Family Clippings' feature (click on the Floppy-disk shaped icon).

Note that not everyone listed will be a blood-relative of yours. Most people have a 'descendent interest' field amongst their details which will say something like 'Weldon Clan'. If their entry is the same as your own, then you are almost certainly related. But, in any event, you can find out if any two people are related (and how) by using the 'Relationship Chart' feature on the drop-down menu under the 'Charts' icon.

The website is very large and can seem quite daunting. But you can't break anything, so feel free to play around. If you need help with a particular feature there is a 'Help' feature, or you can email me for guidance! But here are a few tips that might help:

  • you want to check if anyone of a particular name is listed, then can search the database using the 'Search' feature, which you'll find under the magnifying-glass shaped icon. You can enter a forename (e.g. 'John'), full name (e.g. 'John Smith') or just a surname (e.g. 'Smith'). Alternatively you enter a place name to find everyone with a known association with that particular place (e.g. birth, baptism, marriage, residence, etc.).
  • There are numerous ways of displaying your ancestors/descendents on charts. Personally, I find the 'Hourglass Chart' one of the best formats.

There are THREE sections to this website...

This is the MAIN part of the website and covers everyone related to me or to my wife Dorothy. Some of the people listed will also appear in one of the other two parts of this website too (see below).

There are now over 2000 people - and more than 500 surnames - just in this part of the site (so use the SEARCH box!) but some of the 'main' ones are...
Lindley, Robins, Morrell, Grimshaw, Sims, Lawson, Weldon. Bond, Cooper, Horsfall, Carrack, Smethurst, Johnson, Partington, Warburton, Shipperbottom

This part of the website covers everyone on an early off-shoot of the Sims branch of my own family. Some of the people listed will also appear in the main 'All Our Mob' part of this website too.

There are nearly 2000 people (with about 380 different surnames) just in this part of the site.

This part of the website covers everyone on an off-shoot of my wife's side of the family. Some of the people listed also appear in the main 'All Our Mob' part of this website too.

There are nearly 700 people (and about 150 different surnames) in this part of the site.
